Google Expeditions visit
The highly anticipated Google Expeditions visit at the school took place on Friday 3rd February 2017. This was organised by a Google Expeditions Associate and a staff member from the school as part of engaging young people with the Expeditions Pioneer Programme.
It was a unique opportunity to lead our pupils into an immersive 360º virtual reality experience with guided trips to every corner of the globe. There was the rare chance of turning the clock back in time to walk with dinosaurs as well as experiencing different cultures all over the world.
The pupils learnt about cutting edge technology, project design, and how maths and programmes were used practically.
As the curtains closed on an adventurous day of expeditions, all the pupils and teachers felt inspired by how technology could be used to deepen their understanding of the world that we live in today. If pupils can feel inspired by what a virtual reality world has to offer, then they are more than ready to appreciate and venture out into the real world as future leaders within our globalised society.
"That was the coolest thing ever. I learnt about things that were happening on the other side of the planet!" Hasib Zaheri, Class 9.
"It was fantastic! We went to the moon, Rio de Janeiro and even back in time 4.6 billion years ago!" Mr Jones, teacher.
"The children loved it. Overall, a great experience for our boys who may not otherwise have access to such an opportunity and learn about global topics up close and in an interactive way." Mr Schardsmith, teacher.
